10/1/07 - Just a Chocolate Chip Off The Old Block

cookies cgbNothing...I repeat nothing in the world could be more sweeter than Copperplate Gothic Bold and Chocolate Chip Cookies. My friends Brent and Sam have themselves a winner with these delectable cookie treats and some kick ass packaging. Look how happy they are tossing that giant walnut thing up in the air! Brent and Sam really look like they just won the super bowl, and to be honest, they did...the superbowl of cookies. CGB thanks Brent & Sam for their hard work and their sense of style by using such a great font. A solid hole-in-one for Brent and Sam wins them the super bowl of cookies.

divider10/2/07 - No Matter How You Pronounce It, Greek Gothic Is Good!

try the gyros they are great

You say too-may-toe I say toh-mah-toh, you say hie-roh I say jie-roh. Whatever the Greeks were thinking or smoking they certainly got one thing right, they promoted their food with the worlds greatest font.

Now I may not know much about geography but I do know a thing or two about food. This particular specimen of Copperplate Gothic Bold might have been found in Turkey because in order to fully cook a Turkey you need a little Greece...yep I said it.

So thank you food court on the waterfront of the Potomac River in Washington DC for your extravagant signage promoting your wonderful Greek food. Your store has been placed on a very high pedestal with the likes of the finest restaurants in the world all sharing the passion and the love for Copperplate Gothic Bold. Now it's time to get me a Gyro with a side of that Tzatziki sauce, now that stuff is cool...cool as a cucumber.

divider10/3/07 - Chinese Copperplate Gothic Bold

Chinese copperplate

Thought we'd bring a piece of the orient to Copperplate Gothic Bold. Even the Chinese are getting into it, with the help of an online chinese translator, this is the best approximation we could come up with for Copperplate Gothic Bold. Even though the Chinese language can't use the the font to represent their characters, we can only assume they have an appreciation for the CGB as well.

divider10/3/07 - What's Keeping His Boat Business Afloat?bk productions copperplate gothic bold

Copperplate Gothic Bold is! We found this design which generally would be frowned upon for being dated, having an awful logo, and overall looking dated.

However, upon closer inspection our friends at this event promotion company (not mine, same name) have used Copperplate Gothic Bold to highlight their boat show. I can only imagine that business has increased and wait for it...PROPelled them into millions of dollars in sales from accentuating an already great product with an exceptional font. Best of luck keeping business full sail.

divider10/4/07 - Natures Nibbles Keeps Fido Boldhealth food store copperplate gothic bold

What's the key to keeping pets healthy? Feeding them a little of Grandpa's ol' cough medicine, a double dose of the CGB!

People love their pets dearly and will do anything to keep them happy, including buying them food that is better than what their owners eat. But this is important especially for folks who don't have kids, your pets become your kids so you want to treat them like you would any member of the family.

But the absolute key to why Nature's Nibbles in Del Ray, Virginia stays busy is their store front. A double dose of Copperplate Gothic Bold, bringing to the forefront instant comfort and love for their pets through the CGB. Go head fido, eat that granola and know that your owner loves you and that Nature's Nibbles loves you and Copperplate Gothic Bold too!

10/5/07 - The X Factor Is...Video and Mike Katsufrakis

X Factor CGBWe would like to extend our gratitude to Mike Katsufrakis who found this gem of a logo while traversing the great magnitude of the web. This constitutes our first user submitted sighting and we are ecstatic! In honor of the sighting we have with the help of microsoft given mike a copy of Copperplate Gothic Bold for his use in Microsoft world, Powerpoint and any other graphical application of his choice!

10/5/07 - Barbeque Sauce? More Like Font'a'Que Sauce!

hill country mesquite gothic suaceKick up the heat and get it Bold, nothing is more appetizing than a bold dabble of Hill Country Mesquite D.L.Jardine's BBQ sauce!

Who knew that the Leesburg Premium Outlets would have so many great deals and such a penchant for style. Not only did we buy 2 cases of various mixtures of the BBQ sauce (all featuring different colors of CGB), we also high fived the sales person behind the counter. She now knows what a treasure this font is to America, to mankind and to peace on earth.

We don't know who you are D.L.Jardine, we don't even know if you intended to put such a sexy font up on your label, but we do know that if you keep up what you do Kraft BBQ sauce will be a thing of the past. Got chicken?

10/6/07 - The Only Deadly Sin Involves Avoiding CGB!!!

seven deadly copperplate gothic bold

The only sin that these folks in JMU's HTM 471 class committed was not using more Copperplate Gothic. Now you'll note the difference, bold was not included in the description of the font.

This particular instance was discovered by Daniel Dunlap, former roommate of mine in college and all around good guy. He found this particular instance of Copperplate Gothic (sans-the-bold) used in this menu. You'll notice that while similar it lacks some of the heftiness that a bold possesses. Good catch Mr. Dunlap, good catch. It's people like Daniel, true blooded American's who eat steak and mash potato's for every meal of the day that keep this country ticking. And it's design like this that keeps us wanting more of this beautiful font.

10/7/07 - Getting High Off Of The Air Force and the Thunderbirds!

air force copperplate gothic bold

I have the greatest respect for our armed forces because they really do step up to the plate and do what a majority of folks in the country would be too weak to do. As this site suggests, the Air Force has a great sense of pride in what they do. No surprise they used Copperplate Gothic Bold to demonstrate this pride.

Throughout the site they use Copperplate Gothic Bold, some designers would say that it was overused. Some designers might even suggest that using Copperplate Gothic Bold at all in a design would be sophomoric while they opt for more obscure and less known fonts to be "different." I tell those designers to go look it up in the bible "Do not judge, lest thee be judged." Go be obscure in the corner by yourself.

If it's good enough for the Air Force than it's good enough for everyone. Copperplate Gothic Bold projects strength, pride and the American way. I will end this days posting by letting you know I'm jetting off to bed as I write this.

10/8/07 - The Only Countdown I need is When CGB gets the KO on Every Other Font Ever Made!!!countdown to release

Oh it's been counted down and Copperplate Gothic Bold has won yet again. Not only trusted to reveal to the world a new product, CGB did it with grace, dignity and panache.

Mr. Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press, would have been excited not only for the advent of Copperplate Gothic Bold which made his invention useful after so many years, but also for a countdown that you could view online.

So thanks Mr. Gutenberg and thanks Mr. Goudy for enabling mankind to achieve such high levels of culture.

10/8/07 - Brown University, Ivy League, Frisbee with Copperplates!

brown university copperplateThis particular instance of Copperplate Gothic Bold is a real treasure. Apparently those ivy leaguers up north somewhere near Canada don't use any of those Wham-O discs, no those won't do. They use Copperplates, round ones with small serifs for grip to play their ultimate field game. Enjoy your frisbee friends and keep the font alive.

10/9/07 - Lightning is Attracted to the Copper!

advanced cleanup technologies copperplate gothic boldThis truly is a remarkable find. Not only is this company cleaning up the world one bit at a time, but when I came across the logo a bolt of lighting came across the screen and I captured it just in time!

In nature bolts of lighting are attracted to metal, we can only assume that the lightning captured in this instance was drawn to the Copper in the Copperplate Gothic Bold.

Thank God no one was hurt and Copperplate Gothic Bold once again shows that even nature is drawn to it for a truly enlightning* experience!

* definitely not a misspelling

10/10/07 - Copperplate Installed on 85% of Computers!copperplate gothic bold

Today is a wonderful day in the world! Copperplate is installed on close to 85% of the computers in the U.S. Now more than ever, people can have access to the world's greatest font. So open up word, powerpoint or photoshop and design away because it's likely that you have Copperplate and you can make great designs like the ones featured on this site. If you create a wonderful design please forward it to cgb@ilovecopperplategothicbold.com and you can help spread the word on this amazing font!

10/12/07 - Laying Down the Law With Copperplate!!!stonelaw high school copperplate gothic bold

Any high school that uses Copperplate Gothic Bold is good in my book. The picture of the school is kind of creepy, almost looks like a prison. Prison or not knowledge is king at this institution of learning and when it was time to make the decision of how they would like their name, history and future to be represented only one font was selected. You chose wisely Stonelaw.

10/13/07 - Monster Hunter Game By Capcom!!!

monster hunter capcom gameEven though it is a game, CGB friend Mike Katsufrakis is not playing around when it comes to Copperplate Gothic Bold sightings.

Even monsters are scared of the Copperplate, why else would the heroes of Monster Hunter 2 use this font to brand their game. I'll take a good layout of Copperplate over a sword, gun, or magic spell any day. "A Copperplate a day keeps the doctor away" is what the man in the park in DC said to me when I was visiting the monuments this weekend...I believe him.

10/15/07 - It's Gold's Gym for a Reason!golds gym copperplate gothic bold cgb

It is no coincidence that Gold's Gym picked up Copperplate Gothic Bold to pimp their gym memberships. They actually used their own version of the font for their signs, Copperplate Gothic Gold...true story.

If you want to look like that guy on the elliptical machine and work out next to the girl on the other elliptical machine than you have to join Gold's. What else says, "I just benched 70lbs and I am mighty strong" more so than Copperplate? It commands respect, honor and strength, exactly what folks are looking for in their Gym. Way to go Gold's using Copperplate Gothic Bold to effectively sell their Gym, Curves is screwed.

10/16/07 - The Best Paper Gets You Hammered!

hammermill paper copperplate gothic boldOh you don't come around an example like this very often. If you've ever used paper you understand that it's everywhere and there is a lot of it, but there is a lot of crap paper out there. Chances are you probably don't use nice paper, or have experienced the vitality and understated elegance that it can bring to the textural experience. Great paper can really make my day and I love 28lb Hammermill, almost as much as Copperplate Gothic Bold!

I love it because it's heavy duty, people realize it's not the same crap their used to and having the extra whiteness can really add dynamicism to whatever you print on it. That's why they chose Copperplate Gothic Bold for their design. Not only did they choose it, they went "BAM!!!!" and kicked it up a notch.

If you look closely the E in Hammermill has been modified to not only incorporate the idea of the International Paper logo, but also to add motion to the design. International Paper should get a Nobel Peace prize for bringing peace and beauty to their designs on top of producing, quite frankly, the best paper in the world. So keep at it Hammermill, bring me more Copperplate, more paper, and keep dropping the Hammer on all the other wannabe papers out there.

divider10/18/07 - Virginia DUI? Copperplate Gothic Bold Will Protect You!

Virginia Drunk Driving Copperplate Gothic BoldDrunk Driving or getting a DUI is not funny business, especially if you get arrested. So if you get arrested for your drunk driving conviction, a good lawyer will be able to help you out.

I'm definitely not a lawyer, but I have stayed in quite a few Holiday Inn Expresses and that qualifies me to say that when a lawyer uses Copperplate Gothic Bold they've got to be great.

Think about it, a lawyer spends 4 years undergrad, 3 years in law school and than has to get out there and promote their services. Of all the fonts to choose from when a lawyer who specializes in DUI cases chooses Copperplate Gothic Bold you can definitely tell that they weren't drinking when they made that decision.

Moral of the story is don't drink and drive and for gosh sakes don't get a DUI. But since we are talking about the future to don't drink and drive, if you have gotten drunk and driven, been accused of DUI, or picked up for drinking in public, find a lawyer who uses Copperplate Gothic Bold. Not only will you have the power of a high power attorney to help you, but you will have the backing of Copperplate Gothic Bold and it's inherent power to help you as well. Don't mess with the law!

10/19/07 - DUI PSA, Lawyers Need Authority, Lawyers Get Gothic!

Drunk DrivingDon't know what it is about lawyers and Copperplate Gothic Bold. Maybe it's our way of giving a PSA towards drunk driving. Did you know if you have a DUI in Virginia than you face almost 10,000 dollars in legal costs? It's crazy. But if you get a good lawyer like these folks who use Copperplate than your set.

This particular instance of saving folks from a DUI includes a version of the font that isn't bold. Now while Bold is 99% of the time the correct version of the font to use, in this instance using a finer grade of Copperplate will help show that their are finer nuances in keeping you from getting locked up after drinking at the local bar.

10/25/07 - Lawyer Template - If They Knew Their Site Looked Like Everyone Else's!

lawyer template gothic bold

Lawyers are busy folks, especially when people are out and about crashing their cars into things and needing help. However there are a few corners you should not cut including the design of your lawyer website.

Quickest way to look like everyone else is to use a template site that is everyone else's site! If you'll notice today's entry v. the last entry below you'll notice the same book imagery, and the same flash banner offering no extra value to the site other than "Mr. Lawyer, your new website will feature all the latest technologies, including FLASH!".

So you may be adept at defending DUI accusations, or stopping drunk people from going to jail, you may even be adept at tort law, but one thing you are not adept at is your website. Copperplate Gothic Bold can only help you in the situations where you apply it in an original manner. When researching this particular instance of CGB we ran across at least 4 other websites employing the same template. Rather than focus all our attention at all these lawyer sites we'll move on and find some others who truly are using CGB for good. Case closed.

divider10/26/07 - JMU Homecoming 2007 No CGB???

jmu homecoming 2008 copperplate gothic boldHomecoming is a very special event for those who attended JMU. Not only because it's a blast, you get to reconnect with and network with alumni who shared the common bond of the same JMU experience.

While looking for a graphic that would sum up the JMU experience, I was unable to find a Copperplate Gothic Bold sighting for a JMU site. This brought me much dismay and sadness. Rather than let it get to me that CGB isn't in the branding kit, I decided to create my own piece of CGB history, the official Copperplate Gothic Bold JMU Homecoming 2007 Badge.

This graphic will not only bring the football team good luck but it will also bless my 12x12 tent, beer-pong size replica football table, 2 captains chairs, lil' Weber Grille and all those who partake in the wonder of our tailgate. I can only hope that this will inspire the school to rethink their position on Copperplate Gothic Bold, not only because CGB offers the feel of a sans-serif with the believability of a serifed but because it is awesome. Go Dukes and Go Bold!

divider10/29/07 - 140 Million Use the Internet, 1 Billion Love Copperplate Gothic Bold!!!

copperplate gothic bold

Well friends, this graphic almost sums it up. More Americans now than ever use the Internet. However it's missing the most crucial element that somehow got cut off, over 1 Billion Americans Love Copperplate Gothic Bold!

Now you may ask yourself, well CGB, your cause may be a noble one but your numbers are off there are only 300 million Americans how could 1 Billion love CGB? Well the answer lies in history, there may be 300 million Americans alive right now, but many more than that have been alive at some point. We are going off the larger number of Americans who have ever lived which is well above 1 billion by our estimates. Accounting for the few souls who are suffering for their love of Helvetica, Futura, or New Times Roman we feel safe to say that over 1 Billion Americans Love Copperplate Gothic Bold. In the mighty words of Bon Jovi "...on my big steel horse I ride, its-my-CGB-love that makes me wanted, dead or alive."

10/29/07 - Don't Wine, It's Copperplate Gothic Bold!!!

chateau obrien copperlate gothic bold

One of my favorite wineries in Virginia is a newcomer, Chateau O'Brien. This guy made a bunch of money creating his own businesses, selling them and because he had the chance created a kickass winery on top of a mountain overlooking 66.

When we signed up for Chateau O'Brien's newsletters we expected the same old "Come eat 6 star chef food", we were sorely mistaken. Opening my mailbox this morning I was greeted by the sweet serif 'd pleasure of Copperplate Gothic Bold gently massaging my eyeballs at 8am in the morning! Screw Folgers, this is the way to wake up in the morning and that's the way to continue doing business.

Our hats off to Chateau O'Brien, thanks for staying open for us even when you had another commitment later on in the evening, for your great Buddy's Bistro Red and the locally grown apple desert wine. It proves you just can't "bottle" the excitement for CGB!

10/30/07 - Nothing is More Permanent Than A Tattoo!!!

tattoo copperplate gothic boldWhen you want permanent perfection you can always get a tattoo. You could get one that says "Mom" or "Do Not Resuscitate" you could get one that says "Left" and "Right" for both sides of your hands. But you better get it done in the worlds most popular font, Copperplate Gothic Bold.

This particular site not only looks good but they promote their services with CGB exclusively. I don't have a tattoo, but if I did have one than I would definitely go get another one from these folks because they clearly get it. With the power of CGB behind you how can you go wrong!

Like Jordin Sparks says in her song Tattoo "I got drunk, went out to the parlor, they wrote star on my little finger, i don't care what other fonts they use, I only want a Copperplate Gothic Bold Tattoo."

10/30/07 - Not Just a Fur Ball, It's Got Bark and Bite!!!

wilmington fur ball copperplate gothic bold

We want to thank Michael Kaiser for doing the world a favor and his organization a favor by designing their entire site using Copperplate Gothic. After Michael left us a comment on our comment board we almost fell out of our chairs with excitement.

This should serve as an example to the world what a talented individual with a great idea can do and the people they can inspire with their message. Michael is definitely barking up the right tree with a design like this.

1. People love dogs

2. People love top hats

3. People love Copperplate Gothic Bold

4. People love Dalmatians

That's it, so good luck to Michael, his Dalmatian, and their "spot on" site for the Wilmington Fur Ball 2007.

10/31/07 - Happy Halloween!!!

halloween copperplate gothic bold

It's not only about showing the greatness of Copperplate Gothic Bold, but also adding to the quality imagery that exists featuring the font. Today we have given the world a pumpkin with Happy Halloween on it in Copperplate Gothic Bold!

October has been our most influential month yet with over 2,000 people gaining a bigger appreciation over the worlds greatest font. We can only hope that next month will bring us a cornucopia of eyes to view in all it's glory the best font in the world.

So get scared, eat some pumpkin pie, drink some apple cider, dunk for apples in a big pot of water, take an orange jello shot and have a wonderful Halloween! Remember when asking to "Trick or Treat?" tonight, take the trick you already have the treat of Copperplate Gothic Bold right here!
